Notice for Tax Bill Payment Address

Beginning in Fiscal Year 2017, the City of Burlington is utilizing our bank to process our tax payments. To do this, checks need to be mailed to the processing plant in New York. Payments sent to this address will be processed much more quickly and efficiently.

The reasons for doing this are that City staff have had a difficult time processing the volume of mailed tax payments that we receive in a very short period of time. It took our staff ten minutes to process each check and delayed recording of tax revenue by two to three days.  Under the new system, KeyBank does all the work; checks are processed within four hours, and we receive interest daily on all deposits.

The City of Burlington did a Request for Proposals (RFP) for banking services, which was completed two years ago. KeyBank gave us the best terms with the highest interest rates for our money and lowest costs. No jobs have been outsourced to New York, as we have kept our current staff but have shifted work to them, which is more productive, will allow for a higher level of customer service, and will save the taxpayer money.

In summary, by having our banking partner assist us in this process, City staff will be better able to focus on other job responsibilities, provide a higher level of service to our customers, and will spend less taxpayer money to process property tax payments. No City jobs were cut as a result of this change. As always, taxpayers can drop payments off locally at City Hall in Burlington.

For the same reason, Utility Bills will use the same practice soon.

The mailing address for payments is:
