2021 CDBG Applications:

The following applications were received in response to a Notice of Funding Availability for 2021 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Applications are separated into the Public Service and Development categories because federal law caps the amount of Community Development Block Grant funding that can be spent on Public Service projects at 15% of the City's total allocation. The CDBG Advisory Board reviews non-CEDO applications during February, and March of 2021.

Elementary Enrichment Program** Removes barriers of access to high quality out of school care for students in grades K-5, offering a wide range of enriching learning opportunities and activities founded in best practice. During out of school time including afterschool, vacations, and summer, SHCC’s state licensed, 5-STAR program provides a healthy and enriching space for more than 100 children to learn, grow, and play with the support of caring adults. $50,000

Pathways Expanding Housing First Services in Chitt. County

This program provides permanent housing placement along with intensive community-based services to individuals with histories of homelessness and institutionalization most of whom are living with disabling conditions.

The Independence Place project provides quality, stable affordable housing within the context of a supportive community for 7 individuals coming out of homelessness.

Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity(CVOEO)

VITA
Serves households that earn $56,000 or less, people with disabilities, and people whose second language is English and need help navigating the complicated U.S. tax system. IRS-certified volunteers provide free tax preparation and electronic filing to these households and coordinate care by screening households to see if they are eligible for other services such as 3SquaresVT or CVOEO's Financial Futures programs.

ReSOURCE ReSOURCE YouthBuild An alternative youth training program benefiting low-extremely low-income Burlington residents. Participants demonstrate vocational mastery, earn their high school diploma, complete Personal and Professional Development training, and through their weatherization and construction work, atrisk youth are trained in fields providing livable wages and increased demand for skilled workers.

U.S. Committee for Refugees & Immigrants Vermont (USCRI Vermont)

 

Housing Orientation Program for Refugee Families (HOP)
Offered as an extension of Reception and Placement case management services (which is limited to the first 30-90 days upon arrival), USCRI’s new HOP supports the housing needs of Burlington’s LMI refugee communities by providing access to safe, quality affordable housing, and creating long term housing stability through housing literacy education and specialized support.
