Green Mountain Transit Pass Program

Employee Transit Pass Program

To support the City’s net zero energy goal, we provide free bus transportation through Green Mountain Transit to our eligible employees*.

Riding the bus will save you money and improve your health and well-being! It is also a great way to reduce the environmental impact of your commute, it’s really easy and is so affordable, especially with this new, convenient transit pass available to City of Burlington employees! Employees can ride all GMT (formally CCTA) local, commuter, and LINK Express routes for FREE.

Here's what you need to know:

1. Accessing the City of Burlington Employee Transit Benefit: To access your digital transit pass, please follow these steps:

  • Download the Ride Ready by GMT app from your app store
    [Apple | Google]
  • When you first access the login screen: Instead of choosing "Signup," please enter your City of Burlington email address in the email line.
  • Select "Forgot Password." The system will send you an email to set your password.
  • Once you set your password and log in: The app will prompt you to set up a digital wallet, this wallet is associated with your phone and cannot be used on any other device.
  • Once the City of Burlington portal is finalized: Once everyone is loaded into the employer portal, you will see the City of Burlington Employee digital pass in your app. Each time you ride the bus you will select this pass which will generate a QR code that should be scanned on the GMT farebox.

2. Alternate Option for Employees without Smartphone Access: Employees without access to a smartphone will be eligible for a reloadable fare card. For more information and to request a fare card, please contact Human Resources. It is important to note that if you have a smartcard, you will not have access to the Ride Ready by GMT app.

3. Assistance: If you encounter any difficulties during the setup process or have questions about the City of Burlington Employee transit benefit, please do not hesitate to contact Jamie Smith at GMT by email or by phone at 802-540-1098.

We understand that transportation is a crucial aspect of your daily routine, and we are committed to providing support and resources to facilitate your travel needs.

*Eligible employees refers to all regular full-time, part-time and limited service employees.
