Election Information

August 13th, 2024 Elections:

- STATE PRIMARY ELECTION 

- WARD 3 SPECIAL ELECTION FOR SCHOOL COMMISSIONER

Early Voting

STATE PRIMARY ballots WILL NOT be mailed out to all voters. If you would like to request this ballot be mailed to you, please request one online at https://mvp.vermont.gov/ or call the City Clerk’s office at (802) 865-7000.

WARD 3 SPECIAL ELECTION ballots WILL be mailed out to all active registered ward 3 voters.

Carefully follow all of the instructions when completing your absentee ballot. Be sure to SIGN the envelope and SEAL your ballot inside of it or your vote will not count.

Return the voted ballot:

  • At City Hall Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Monday, August 12th
  • At a Ballot Drop Box located at:
    • City Hall – Main Street side of the building across from the Flynn Theater
    • Department of Public Works – 645 Pine Street
    • Fire Station #2 – 132 North Avenue, rear of building
    • Robert Miller Community Center – 130 Gosse Court
    • Fire Station #3 – 20 Mansfield Avenue
  • At your polling place on Election Day between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. A list of polling places can be found at https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/CT/Maps-Wards-State-Districts-and-Polling-Places Due to the city redistricting, your ward and polling place may have changed. Verify which ward you live in at https://www2.burlingtonvt.gov/Clerk/Elections/Map/

In-Person Voting

  • Polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
  • Voters who are unable to get to their polling place, due to illness or disability, may contact the Clerk's office to request curbside voting at their polling place, electronic ballot delivery, or home ballot delivery by Justices of the Peace. 
  • If you receive a ballot by mail, but decide to vote in person, please bring your ballot with you to the polling place.

Important Dates

June 29th – Ballots for Ward 3 Special Election mailed to all active registered voters.

June 29th - Early voting begins.

August 12th, 4:30pm – Deadline to register to vote online or in the Clerk Treasurer’s Office before Election Day; Election Day registration is available at your polling place on March 5th.

August 12th, 4:30 p.m. – Deadline to drop off your voted ballot in a drop box.

August 13th – Election Day! Polls open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

If you need an interpreter on Election Day, or for early voting, please ask a staff member at the Clerk’s office or an election official at your polling place. You have the right to a FREE interpreter. The City of Burlington's Community & Economic Development Office (CEDO) provides interpreter services for over 240 languages.
